The Avengers Club Homeless Cat Feeding (Video)

Here is a video I took of the Avengers Club’s Homeless Cat Feeding Event.  It was with myself, Martin a.k.a. Captain Britain, Ian and Stefany, all Superheroes in the Club. This black cat we named Twilight. She is the only one that comes near us and the only reason she does is because she always wants to eat all the wet food first. So we have to be really careful with her because she’s a bit of bully with the other cats when it comes to her wet food but she’s still super cute and sweet.  Once we place the wet food on the plate she attacks and we always have to refill the plate with wet food because she’s so quick.  So here you’ll see Stefany distracting her with a spoonful of wet food as Ian and Martin quickly take the other plates with wet and dry food to the other cats waiting patiently near the buildings. I find it so funny that we have to do this with Twilight everytime but its super cute isn’t it??? Hahahaha…

A Single Act of Kindness Can Change Your Life or Someone Else’s

I am a firm believer that every interaction you have leaves an imprint on people, animals and the earth so why not leave a positive one. You never know what your random act of kindness, with no expectation of anything in return, whether it’s a warm smile or a hot bowl can do for a person.

No act of kindness is too small. The gift of kindness may start as a small ripple that over time can turn into a tidal wave affecting the lives of many. – Kevin Heath

Thai mobile-phone carrier True Move H just released this touching ad displaying the best form of communication, giving without expecting anything in return.

I am Not a Bum I am a Human Being (Video)

Our purpose in life is to help others. And if you can’t help them, at least don’t hurt them.

– Dalai Lama

If you’ve never been homeless you will never know how it feels to go cold and hungry at night.  When you say, “I work hard for my money and they should too but they are just bums and lazy,” try walking a mile in their shoes or no shoes at all … and you will see it is harder than you think to get out off the streets when you have nothing.

They give up their dignity and pride and beg all day in rain, shine or even snow.  All just hoping they get enough for a meal or a warm place to rest their head at night. The homeless are human beings just like us. We all go through hard times but some of us live it everyday.

Meet Ronald Davis.

This video sparked this thread on reddit.

I found this part of the thread interesting…

Edit (cleaned up): Friends and I went to that corner and Ronald wasn’t there. So we what we could and took a homeless man named Dwight to lunch. He is a man who usually sits on the bridge a few feet from Ronald. A friend of mine bought him popeyes and I gave him twenty dollars.

Dwight’s Story: His sister was raped by a man back in 1990ish and he killed the man responsible. He went to jail for 17 years and now is struggling to find a job.

He has a cellphone so that wasn’t a concern, but he is not getting callbacks from any employer. Co-worker who bought the lunch has a suit that may fit Dwight, and another co-worker has extra clothes. We are also bringing down a list of jobs that Dwight may apply for.

We have Dwight’s number so if you are an employer in Chicago/Chicagoland area who is willing to take a chance on a person then please PM me. He is a great man and does not seem dangerous at all, he just wants to work.

I share the above stories because you don’t know the reasons why the homeless men and women call the streets their home. I try my best not to judge any of them. I see them as a human being, down on their luck and in need of help, period.

A Truly Beautiful Random Act of Kindness – The Pending Coffee

This is truly a beautiful random act of kindness by the people of Naples, Italy.

Can we start our own Pending Coffee Revolution in Toronto????  Once a day buy an extra coffee… spread the word and let the homeless know.

For example, every morning I buy a coffee at the Mcdonald’s at the corner of Broadview & Danforth. I usually buy an extra for the homeless man at the corner only when he’s there. I will now buy a pending coffee in case he comes after I leave. I will let both the homeless man and the staff at mcdonald’s know.

Let’s spread a little love and kindness.  Buy a pending coffee for a stranger and those less fortunate.

Dear son, don’t let Robin Thicke be a lesson to you

Wow loved this so much! Not because it’s about Miley Cyrus but because it’s making a men AND women accountable for propagating and pertuating this rape culture… Lead by example for your sons, grandsons, brothers and nephews and all little boys so that our little men will grow up to be real men who protect and respect all women.

***Update, August 1: In response to the thousands of people who, after reading this entire post, decided to harp on one single phrase (“I’m no feminist”), I wrote this. If you want to know how I can say all the things I say here, yet still reject “feminism,” click the link and I’ll explain. Otherwise, carry on. Thanks for stopping by.

Our country dangles on the precipice of starting a third World War. We are on the verge of a completely unnecessary conflict where the United States will fight along side Al Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood. This, in another day and age, might earn the crown as the Most Controversial Story of the Week. But we’re in the year 2013, and this is America, so a young pop star’s dance moves on an MTV awards show have predictably overshadowed the prospect of global chaos and bloodshed. I wrote…

When Neediness Causes Relationships to Fail

Gabriel Lucerato clarifies the notion that women are more needy than men when in actual fact men are more needy than women. From experience, I often find that men fall much harder than women but both men and women have a hard time differentiating between in-love and infactuation. Personally, I tend to pull away from a needy man when my feelings are not as strong as his but when I truly like someone and they become needy I actually do compromise, not enable him…but compromise. I believe that relationships and feelings are never equal. My mom always tells me to love someone that loves you more than you love them.
